
Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rassamni, continues to advance efforts to rehabilitate and operate Rene Moawad Airport in Qalayat, placing this vital project at the top of his national priorities despite the current challenges and difficult circumstances Lebanon is facing, due to its crucial importance for the country.
Driven by the Ministry’s commitment to facilitate the lives of Lebanese citizens, expand air transport options, and ease the burdens on the public, practical steps have been taken to accelerate the project’s implementation. A public procurement tender was launched following legal procedures, ensuring transparency and the highest standards of competitiveness.
The process has attracted notable interest from relevant parties, with eighteen entities obtaining the tender documents and expressing their intention to participate, reflecting growing confidence in the project’s importance and feasibility at both national and economic levels.
The Ministry emphasizes its aspiration to complete this vital project as soon as possible, reaffirming its commitment to act in the public interest, support Lebanon’s resilience, and strengthen its capabilities during this critical period.
