The Ministry of Economy and Trade affirmed that “the circulated statement attributed to the Director of the World Food Programme in Lebanon was taken out of context and pertains only to the besieged villages in the south, and does not apply to all of Lebanon. The relevant parties will clarify this matter.”
In a statement, it said: “Lebanon’s food stock is sufficient for three to four months, and supply chains as well as import and export activity are operating normally at ports and land crossings.”
It added: “Operations at the ports, particularly the Port of Beirut, and at the land crossings are continuing as normal, including the Masnaa crossing, which has been reopened. Public holidays and official holidays have also been treated as regular working days to provide maximum handling capacity.”
It concluded: “Coordination is ongoing with all parties concerned with the food file, including port and crossing administrations, Lebanese customs, importers, and supermarket owners. Work is continuing normally and at maximum capacity, and strategic stocks of food and fuel are available.”
