U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that Washington would give Tehran “one last chance” to return to the negotiating track, stressing that the U.S. administration is not handling the Iranian file with haste, but according to calculations tied to achieving its stated objectives.
Trump said, “We will give negotiations one last chance, and I am in no rush.”
He added, “Achieving the mission’s objectives is more important than setting a timetable for its completion.”
In earlier remarks delivered on Tuesday before lawmakers at the White House, Trump said the United States would “end the war very quickly” with Iran, praising the performance of the U.S. military and what he described as a powerful strike targeting Iranian capabilities.
He said, “We have a great military, and we succeeded in delivering a powerful blow to Iran and its capabilities.”
He indicated that Iran “will not possess a nuclear weapon,” arguing that it “has not spent enough on developing military capabilities.”
Trump continued, “We are in the final stages of negotiations with Iran, and we will see what happens.”
He concluded by saying, “The only question regarding Iran is whether we finish the matter or they sign a document,” stressing that “Iran faces either a deal or bad things.”
