
The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces — Public Relations Division announced that, based on a complaint received from a citizen stating that two unidentified individuals riding a black “GR” motorcycle without license plates had been robbing citizens of their motorcycles and wallets at gunpoint, investigations, inquiries, and follow-up conducted by the Mount Lebanon Investigation Unit of the Regional Gendarmerie led to identifying the suspects’ whereabouts in the Kafaat area.
Accordingly, a patrol from the unit headed to the area and carried out a targeted operation that resulted in the arrest of two individuals riding a black Yamaha motorcycle. They are:
- E.K. (born in 2008, Syrian), according to his statement
- M.K. (born in 1998, Syrian), according to his statement
Two military pistols with a number of live rounds were seized in their possession, in addition to tools used in robbery operations, a sum of money, and a mobile phone. It was also found that the second suspect is wanted by the judiciary for robbery and motorcycle theft, and that his phone contains numerous photos of motorcycles and narcotics. He stated that he works for another individual, and efforts are underway to arrest him.
The two detainees and the seized items were handed over to the concerned unit for the necessary legal measures to be taken against them, upon the instruction of the competent judiciary.
