National Defense Minister Major General Michel Manssi received in his office in Yarzeh the United States Ambassador to Lebanon, Michel Issa, where they held a comprehensive review of the general situation in Lebanon and the region.
The meeting addressed the importance of reaching a security agreement that would ensure an end to Israeli attacks on Lebanon, leading to a definitive end to the war. It also covered the meetings previously held and those expected to be held in Washington under U.S. sponsorship, in addition to the ongoing political and diplomatic contacts and efforts in this regard.
During the meeting, Minister Manssi stressed “the need to continue along the path of negotiations as the only available way to restore the full authority of the Lebanese state over every inch of its territory and to reach solutions that preserve the country’s stability.”
Major General Manssi also renewed his thanks to “the United States for the support it provides to Lebanon in various political and diplomatic fields, particularly military support for the military institution,” stressing “the importance of the continuation of this support to enable the Lebanese Army to continue carrying out its national duties under the current circumstances.”
