
As the parliamentary Administration and Justice Committee begins its session to study the proposed law aimed at abolishing the death penalty in Lebanon, this issue is returning to the forefront of political debate. In this context, French writer and journalist Michel Taube, who is also editor-in-chief of the website Opinion Internationale and founder of the organization Ensemble contre la peine de mort, offers an in-depth reading of this debate. In a press interview, he considered that abolishing this punishment could constitute a historic turning point in the region, and a precedent whose repercussions may extend to other countries.
