The Interior Minister said from Baabda Palace:
“We hope the coming days will bring good despite the existing challenges, and under the leadership of the President of the Republic we are working to reclaim our land, completely halt the attacks, and secure what is needed for reconstruction.”
He added: “I salute all Lebanese, especially the wounded, wishing them a speedy recovery. I also salute the displaced and those who took them in, which proves that the Lebanese stand by one another.”
He continued: “The people of the South have endured a great deal, and the time has come for return and reconstruction. Nothing guarantees a dignified life and stability except rallying around the state.”
He pointed out that “people are exhausted from external wars, so what about an internal war? Everyone must rally around the state.”
He concluded: “We hope this will be a new beginning... We are stopping and confiscating unlicensed weapons, and the government has taken clear decisions regarding the use of organized arms outside the framework of the state.”
