Official Lebanese sources revealed to Watan Press the outlines of an anticipated round of negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, scheduled to be held on Tuesday in Washington, amid efforts to consolidate the ceasefire and open the door to a broader negotiating track.
The sources said that the “Israeli-Lebanese negotiations on Tuesday in Washington will be at the ambassadorial level,” noting that “the aim of Tuesday’s round with Israel is to solidify the ceasefire as a prelude to launching negotiations.”
Regarding the composition of the Lebanese delegation, the sources pointed out that “Ambassador Simon Karam will head Lebanon’s delegation if a truce with Israel is agreed.”
They also explained that “the negotiation agenda will include Hezbollah’s weapons, Israel’s withdrawal, the release of prisoners, and the borders,” while the source spoke of “U.S. guarantees to spare the capital, Beirut, from airstrikes until Tuesday.”
