Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri raised the level of his positions regarding the Israeli escalation, calling for urgent Lebanese and international action to put an end to the ongoing attacks, and stressing the need to document the violations and hold those responsible accountable before the relevant international bodies.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Berri called for “the swift formation of an international fact-finding committee to investigate the crimes that Israeli forces continue to commit,” stressing the necessity of documenting these violations in audio and video.
Berri stressed that “May 1 must be an open national occasion to direct an appeal to the state and the international community for urgent action to compel Israel to immediately halt its aggression.”
He affirmed that “the current phase requires a firm international stance,” calling for effective action to put an end to the escalation and protect civilians amid the continuing tensions in the region.
