Lebanese Army: Extraordinary Meeting Between General Rodolphe Haykal and U.S. General Clearfield to Discuss the Security Situation and Support for the Army

The Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal and the head of the committee overseeing the ceasefire agreement mechanism, U.S. General Joseph Clearfield, held an extraordinary meeting at Beirut Air Base.

The extraordinary meeting came as a result of a brief visit by Clearfield and addressed the security situation in Lebanon, developments in the region, and ways to make the best possible use of the mechanism and further develop its work.

The meeting stressed the importance of the army’s role and the need to support it during the current phase.

General Clearfield left Lebanese territory after the meeting.
