Attention is turning to the next few hours, as the world awaits U.S. President Donald Trump’s position on a proposed framework agreement revealed by sources to Reuters. The proposal includes the implementation of three stages, beginning with formally ending the war, moving through addressing the Strait of Hormuz crisis, and culminating in opening a 30-day negotiation window aimed at reaching a broader agreement that could be extended.
According to the available information, Trump has begun a series of contacts and consultations with his security team and a number of regional leaders, while informed circles said the final touches are being put on the anticipated agreement formula.
Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf raised the level of escalation, announcing that he had told Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir during talks in Tehran that Washington “is not a trustworthy party in negotiations,” stressing that Iran would not abandon what he described as its “rights.”
Ghalibaf added that the Iranian armed forces had rebuilt their capabilities during the ceasefire period, warning that any resumption of war by the United States would have “more devastating consequences.”
