US President Donald Trump announced that he will not attend the wedding of his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., to Bettina Anderson, citing what he described as "government-related circumstances" and the need for him to remain in Washington at this stage.
In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump wrote: "Although I very much wanted to be with my son Don Jr. and his future wife Bettina, circumstances related to the government and my love for the United States do not allow me to do so."
He added: "I feel it is important for me to remain at the White House during this important period."
Trump's remarks come as his administration continues diplomatic talks with Iran through Pakistani mediation, amid indications that a return to military escalation is possible if the negotiations fail.
Trump had earlier told reporters: "I have a file called Iran and other matters."
According to CNN, the wedding ceremony had been scheduled for early next week on one of the Bahamas islands, while official documents showed that Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson had already legally married.
