Aoun to Rubio: Ceasefire is a priority… Washington reaffirms support for Lebanon’s stability and sovereignty

President Joseph Aoun received a phone call from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during which they reviewed the general situation in Lebanon and the region, as well as current developments.

During the call, President Aoun stressed the need to make every possible effort to reach a ceasefire, describing it as the essential gateway to moving on to any other step and the necessary passage for creating the appropriate conditions to address the various files and issues at hand.

For his part, Secretary Rubio renewed the US administration’s commitment to continuing its efforts to consolidate the outcomes of previous Washington meetings, while also affirming its support for Lebanon’s stability, independence, and sovereignty over its entire territory, and its natural and full right to determine its own destiny.
