Israel’s Channel 12, citing a senior US official, revealed that the United States has amended the rules of engagement governing its forces deployed in the region, in a move reflecting escalating security tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the official, US forces have been granted direct authority to respond to any threats described as “immediate” against ships transiting the strait, including targeting fast boats التابعة to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard or Iranian missile sites suspected of posing a danger to maritime navigation.
