U.S. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham stressed that “any negotiated settlement with Tehran must require an end to Iran’s official sponsorship of terrorism and its support for groups such as Hezbollah.”
Graham said in a post on his account on the platform X: “Any agreement must include clear and unambiguous provisions stating that Tehran’s continued support for its proxies will result in the most severe consequences,” stressing that “without ending Iranian support for proxies, stability will not be achieved in Lebanon and Syria, and Israel will not enjoy security.”
He described the “Freedom Plus” initiative as “interesting.”
He pointed to its “ability to change the rules of the game by securing international shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz and confronting Iranian moves.”
The senator also suggested that the “Plus” component of the project should include the participation of a broader base of international partners, while relying on limited military activity to secure navigation.
