Muscat on the path of de-escalation... Araghchi discusses with his Omani counterpart ensuring the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz

During his visit to the Omani capital, Muscat, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi discussed with his Omani counterpart developments in bilateral relations and the latest regional developments, alongside the Strait of Hormuz file and mechanisms for preserving the security of maritime navigation.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry said the meeting addressed views on ways to ensure the passage of ships through the strait, amid the rapid developments unfolding in the region.

For his part, the Omani foreign minister expressed hope for the full implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed with the United States, stressing the importance of continuing diplomatic efforts to prevent an escalation of tensions and bolster regional stability.

Both sides underscored the need for de-escalation and intensifying political efforts to address outstanding issues, in a way that contributes to protecting the region’s security and freedom of international navigation.
