The General Directorate of Public Relations at the National Social Security Fund said in a statement that “despite the unprecedented pressures facing the health and social sectors as a result of the Israeli aggression against Lebanon, the Fund’s administration continues to carry out its duties toward hospitals and doctors.”
In this context, the statement noted that the Fund’s Director General, Dr. Mohammad Karaki, issued Decision No. 246 on 29/4/2026, in less than fifteen days, providing for the payment of financial advances to hospitals and doctors contracted with the Fund, amounting to around 322 billion Lebanese pounds, “in view of the essential role this sector is playing at this delicate stage.”
It explained that these advances were allocated to cover 5,050 hospitalization claims for insured beneficiaries who received treatment services at the Fund’s expense, with the aim of easing their financial burdens and ensuring the continued operation of hospitals in receiving patients without interruption.
According to the data, the total amount paid by the Fund to cover hospitalization expenses alone (excluding dialysis) since the beginning of the current year has reached around 1,602 billion Lebanese pounds, reflecting the scale of its commitment to supporting the health sector under the current circumstances.
At the conclusion of the statement, the Director General renewed his call on hospitals and doctors to “abide by the official tariffs set by the Fund’s administration, without burdening insured beneficiaries with exorbitant and unjustified hospitalization costs, especially the displaced among them, in consideration of the difficult economic and social conditions and to ensure they receive decent healthcare,” stressing that he “will not hesitate to take deterrent measures whenever necessary.”
