With the start of each week, concerns resurface regarding rising fuel prices, particularly gas, and the potential for supply disruptions due to regional tensions, including the U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran and restrictions on oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
In this context, Fared Zeinoun, Head of the Syndicate of Workers and Distributors in the Gas and Gas Supplies Sector in Lebanon, told "Al-Markazia" that "gas stock is available at all times for no less than a month," noting that "gas-laden ships arrive in Lebanon regularly according to scheduled deliveries, which rules out any crisis or shortage of this vital commodity."
Zeinoun urged citizens "not to hoard or store gas cylinders randomly and to replace empty cylinders through licensed stores or authorized gas distributors." He also clarified that "distributors operate daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., covering all Lebanese territories, except areas experiencing military actions or critical security conditions, in order to protect the safety of workers."
Regarding the fight against the black market, the syndicate head emphasized "the necessity for store owners to clearly display the official price of gas cylinders," calling on citizens to "immediately report any violation or sale above the official price to the Consumer Protection Directorate for legal action."
Zeinoun also urged the Ministry of Economy and Trade to "intensify its market inspection patrols, ensure all stores adhere to the official pricing, and pursue any centers filling cylinders below standard or violating specifications."
