US President Donald Trump announced the cancellation of the trip by US envoys to the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, which had been scheduled to meet Iranian officials, indicating that this decision does not reflect a move toward resuming war and stressing that such an option has not been مطرح so far.
Trump explained that the door to communication remains open, noting that the Iranian side can take the initiative to make contact if it wishes to engage in dialogue. At the same time, he said the internal scene in Iran is marked by confusion and infighting, creating ambiguity over which party is responsible for decision-making.
The US president stressed that his country “holds the initiative and all the cards of power,” considering it “pointless” to send a delegation on a long journey of about 18 hours to Pakistan when the same level of communication can be carried out effectively by phone.
He added that the time and effort wasted during the past period do not justify proceeding with steps that fail to produce tangible results, pointing to the absence of serious indications of progress on the path toward an understanding.
