The Ministry of Economy and Trade announced an adjustment to the price of the Lebanese white bread loaf, following the significant increase in fuel prices, particularly diesel, which accounts for about 22% of production costs.
Under the decision, the price of a loaf at bakeries will rise to 75,000 Lebanese pounds instead of 70,000, and in retail shops to 90,000 instead of 85,000. The ministry emphasized that this increase is temporary and linked to fuel costs, and it will be reassessed once global prices drop to ensure a balance between consumer protection and production sustainability.
