The United Arab Emirates announced it is moving to accelerate the implementation of a new oil pipeline project aimed at boosting crude exports through the emirate of Fujairah, enabling it to bypass reliance on the Strait of Hormuz for export operations.
The Abu Dhabi Government Media Office said that Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was briefed during a meeting with ADNOC officials on the latest developments of the “West-East Pipeline 1” project, which is expected to enter service in 2027.
The statement explained that the project will double the company’s export capacity through Fujairah, while Sheikh Khaled directed that its completion be expedited to help meet growing global demand for energy supplies, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
