The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, stated during the emergency ministerial meeting of the Arab League:
Arab states stand united against any aggression targeting their sovereignty or threatening the safety of their territories and airspace.
The attacks on Arab countries constitute a blatant violation of the principles of good neighborliness, international laws, and treaties.
Arab states are not parties to the ongoing war and did not seek its outbreak; they have rejected the use of their territories and airspace as a launchpad for military operations.
Several Arab countries, notably Oman, Egypt, and Qatar, have undertaken intensive diplomatic efforts to spare the region from the horrors of war.
We call on Iran to review its policies and immediately cease the attacks, and we urge the international community to act to stop attacks on Arab lands.
We call on all parties to return to dialogue and resolve disputes through political channels rather than sliding into dangerous paths that could have widespread consequences.
Diplomacy remains the best option to prevent further escalation.
