
Minister of Telecommunications Charles Hajj indicated that he discussed with President of the Republic Joseph Aoun the extent of the damage inflicted on the telecommunications sector’s infrastructure in southern Lebanon, as well as preparations to restore services as soon as residents return to their villages and towns, given the essential role telecommunications play in daily life, education, healthcare, and the economy.
He said: "I briefed the President on the latest developments in the fiber-optic extension project, aimed at expanding high-speed internet coverage across various Lebanese regions, given its direct impact on economic growth, digital transformation, and job creation," noting that "in this context, the importance of delivering the fiber-optic network to all major Lebanese cities as quickly as possible was reaffirmed, within a national vision for recovery and revival."
