United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned “the attack that targeted the United Nations Interim Force in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL), which resulted in the death of a French soldier and the injury of three others,” according to a statement issued by his spokesperson and carried by Agence France-Presse.
The statement explained that “UNIFIL’s initial assessment indicates that peacekeepers came under fire from non-state actors believed to be affiliated with Hezbollah.”
In the same context, France had in turn held the Iran-backed group responsible for the attack.
