
A ministerial meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam was held at the Grand Serail, attended by a large number of ministers, during which Salam asked each minister to present the affairs of his or her ministry and ways to enhance coordination with the other ministries.
Information Minister Paul Morcos noted that “Minister of National Defense Major General Michel Menassa presented the continued raids in the south and the situation on the Lebanese-Syrian border, while Interior and Municipalities Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Hajjar reviewed the security developments.
Salam instructed all security agencies on the need to maintain proper conduct with all citizens, with full respect, in enforcing the law equally among citizens.”
He added: “Economy Minister Amer Bisat presented measures to combat high prices, fraud, monopoly and smuggling, stressing the need to raise fines, which requires a legislative amendment and stronger cooperation with the judiciary.”
For his part, Finance Minister Yassine Jaber reviewed the financial situation and monetary stability, stressing that it is a top priority. Social Affairs Minister Hanine El Sayed also presented the changes taking place in the numbers of displaced people.”
