The residents of the town of Shebaa, believing in the role of the Lebanese state and its legitimate institutions, address this sincere appeal to the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, and the command of the Lebanese Army.
The Lebanese Army has always been, and continues to be, the safety valve and the true guarantee for our people. It has consistently stood among its citizens through all circumstances and challenges. We reaffirm our full commitment to the legitimacy of the Lebanese state and its institutions, foremost among them the Lebanese Army, which we consider the protector and guarantor of the security and stability of our region.
In light of reports circulating about the possibility of the Lebanese Army withdrawing from the town of Shebaa, we express our deep concern over this matter and stress our rejection of any such step, as the presence of the Army represents a fundamental source of reassurance for the town’s residents and a guarantee of stability and safety.
We also wish to emphasize that the residents of the town have not been asked to evacuate Shebaa, and they remain determined to stay on their land alongside their Army. Therefore, we ask with concern and responsibility: what are the reasons that could lead to the evacuation or withdrawal of the Army from the area at this sensitive time?
Accordingly, we call for maintaining the presence of the Lebanese Army in the town of Shebaa, among its people who trust it and remain committed to its unifying national role. This serves the interests of the town’s residents and strengthens the presence of the Lebanese state in this region.
May God protect Lebanon and its Army, and preserve security and stability throughout our homeland.
