Nidaa Al-Watan has learned that the head of the Lebanese delegation to the Washington negotiations, former ambassador Simon Karam, who is due to arrive in Beirut this morning, will hold a meeting in the coming hours with President General Joseph Aoun to brief him on the two days of negotiations, in addition to presenting the preparations required for the two upcoming milestones: the first, the anticipated military meeting at the Pentagon on the 29th of this month, and the second, the second round of direct talks at the delegation level on June 3 and 4. It was also stressed that Ambassador Karam, under a direct mandate from the President of the Republic, is heading the negotiating delegation and the negotiation sessions at all their stages and levels, amid the Lebanese presidency’s insistence on managing this track through official channels and under the ceiling of the state’s sovereign decision.
