
President of the Republic General Joseph Aoun received Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam at Baabda Palace, where they held a broad review of the current situation in light of recent developments.
The talks addressed the negotiations launched at the US State Department between the Lebanese, American and Israeli delegations, in light of the directives given to the Lebanese delegation during preparations for the start of these negotiations. The two presidents agreed to follow them closely through constant communication.
President Aoun and Prime Minister Salam also agreed to hold a Cabinet session next week.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Salam briefed the President on the outcome of his recent visit to Syria at the head of a ministerial delegation, and on the talks he held with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa, in addition to the meetings Lebanese ministers held with their Syrian counterparts. He noted that the atmosphere was positive, and that it was agreed to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in various fields, with ministers from both sides to remain in contact to follow up on the implementation of the issues discussed.
