U.S. President Donald Trump said estimates indicate that Iran is incurring daily losses of around $500 million amid ongoing developments and the pressure being imposed on it.
Trump added that the United States "fully controls" the Strait of Hormuz through what he described as a blockade forming a "steel wall," noting that Iran's missile capabilities have declined significantly.
He stressed that his country is holding negotiations with Tehran, pointing out that Washington "will get what it wants one way or another," while emphasizing that Iran will not be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon.
He said the aim of the negotiations is to reach an agreement that ensures Iran is prevented from developing its nuclear capabilities, in addition to guaranteeing the free flow of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz without restrictions.
In the same context, Trump said his country would work to obtain highly enriched uranium and dispose of it, arguing that it cannot be allowed to remain inside Iran. He added that the U.S. Navy is playing an effective role and that ship traffic to and from Iran has nearly come to a halt because of the naval measures.
