Following his meeting with the President of the Republic at Baabda Palace, General Confederation of Lebanese Workers President Bechara Al-Asmar warned of the rapidly worsening conditions facing workers and employees, noting that the recent Israeli attacks have left serious economic and social repercussions that have directly affected the labor market and the continuity of institutions.
Al-Asmar stressed that he conveyed to the President the reality of the labor movement and the challenges it faces, calling for refraining from imposing any new taxes or additional fees that would increase the burdens on citizens and productive sectors.
He also underscored the need to launch a comprehensive economic and social dialogue bringing together the various concerned parties, with the aim of correcting wages, safeguarding workers’ rights, securing the means for institutions to remain resilient, and preserving job opportunities amid the current economic conditions.
