President Joseph Aoun told the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, that Israel’s continued destruction of homes and bulldozing of villages in the south constitutes a direct violation of human rights and a clear breach of international laws and norms, requiring international action to put an end to it.
He pointed out that Israel has also targeted religious and heritage sites, which reveals premeditated intentions against both people and stone, especially since such places are not military sites and do not witness any armed presence.
He added: Lebanon is committed to implementing the "framework formula," but fears that Israeli practices could affect its effectiveness, and it will not accept the continued violation of its provisions.
Turk said: The Office is monitoring developments in Lebanon, particularly the ongoing Israeli attacks since last March 2, in order to prepare a detailed report on violations affecting human rights.
