The media office of the Minister of Public Health issued the following statement:
“Minister of Public Health Dr. Rakan Nassereddine condemned in the strongest terms the heinous crime committed today by the Israeli enemy, through its direct targeting of Lebanese Civil Defense paramedics while they were carrying out a humanitarian rescue mission in the town of Majdal Zoun.
Minister Nassereddine pointed out that this crime is not merely an isolated incident, but rather a continuation of a scorched-earth policy and the targeting of the pillars of Lebanese resilience, noting that the number of martyrs in the health sector has risen to 103 since March 2. He said that this persistence in killing amounts to a blatant violation of all international treaties and norms, and a flagrant challenge to the Geneva Conventions, which grant absolute protection to paramedics and medical teams in the field.
The minister issued an urgent appeal to international and UN organizations, calling on them to break their silence over this systematic escalation, stressing that silence over the targeting of the “white vests” is a stab at the core of human values.
Nassereddine concluded by stressing that the ministry, in cooperation with the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law, is documenting these violations in detail to build a solid international criminal case file, affirming: ‘Our paramedics are not numbers, and we will not allow these crimes to pass with time; accountability is coming, and justice will inevitably prevail, even if after a while.’”
