President Joseph Aoun held a phone call with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, who offered his condolences for the victims of the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, particularly those who fell last Wednesday, affirming his country’s solidarity with Lebanon at this delicate stage.
Condemning these attacks, Al-Sudani said that Iraq “stands by Lebanon and its people in these difficult circumstances it is going through, and supports the decisions taken by the President of the Republic and the government to extend the state’s sovereignty and consolidate security and stability across all Lebanese territory.”
The Iraqi prime minister also informed President Aoun that “Iraq will provide urgent assistance to ease the suffering of the brotherly Lebanese people, including fuel, food supplies, and relief materials.”
For his part, President Aoun thanked his Iraqi counterpart for “his sympathy and for the assistance his country intends to send to Lebanon, which reflects the depth of the fraternal ties binding the brotherly Lebanese and Iraqi peoples,” wishing Iraq lasting stability and security.
