Ministry of Telecommunications denies granting any licenses to extend fiber cables in Byblos and calls for verification of violations

The Ministry of Telecommunications said in a statement, commenting on reports circulating بشأن the extension of fiber cables on electricity poles in the Byblos district, that “no license has been granted in the Byblos area to any party to install or operate telecommunications networks, with the exception of Ogero, in accordance with the applicable legal frameworks.

The statement added: “Accordingly, the ministry calls on the security agencies and the relevant authorities to inspect these extensions, verify the identity of those who carried them out, remove the encroachments, and take the appropriate measures where necessary.

The ministry also stressed that it is working to regulate the status of transmission networks, particularly the gradual transition to the approved legal infrastructure, in a way that ensures the safety of the networks and the proper management of the telecommunications sector.”
