The Israeli army announced on Saturday the establishment of what it described as a “yellow line” in southern Lebanon, similar to the dividing line between its forces and the areas controlled by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, noting that it has used this line as a field reference for dealing with what it considered security threats.
In its statement, the army said that over the past 24 hours it had detected individuals it described as “armed men” moving south of this line, claiming that they had violated the ceasefire understandings by approaching its north in a manner deemed a direct threat to its forces.
It added that its forces had targeted those individuals, while stressing at the same time that the army is “authorized to act” against any potential threats, despite the ceasefire remaining in effect.
