
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stressed the need to reach an understanding that regulates shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, expressing hope that the crisis would see a breakthrough before the end of the current week.
In statements to Turkey’s TRT channel, Fidan indicated that ensuring the freedom and security of navigation in the strait has become an urgent priority in light of the rapidly unfolding developments, affirming that his country is following contacts aimed at containing the tension.
The Turkish minister revealed that he had discussed by phone with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, the issue of reopening the Strait of Hormuz, along with concerns related to the possibility of the Iranian conflict widening and its repercussions for regional security and international maritime routes.
