Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam wrote on his account on the X platform:
What Saqiyat al-Janzir Square witnessed this afternoon in terms of acts of violence by members of one of the security agencies against civilians, gunfire, and the intimidation of citizens are unacceptable actions, whatever the reasons or pretexts. I have given strict orders to conduct immediate investigations to clarify the circumstances of what happened and to take the necessary disciplinary and judicial measures against those responsible.
I call on my fellow citizens in Beirut to exercise the utmost restraint in order to preserve the security of our dear capital and the safety of our people there.
