President Walid Jumblatt held communications with the Turkish side through the office of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, where he obtained Erdoğan’s approval—conveyed via his advisor Mr. Sever Turan—for Turkey to provide a number of ready-made homes to ensure proper housing for displaced residents of the south. Jumblatt had proposed this initiative following his meeting with President Michel Aoun earlier this week.
President Jumblatt informed Prime Minister Judge Nawaf Salam of his initiative and the Turkish response, which was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister Salam. He also received the Turkish Ambassador to Lebanon, Murat Lütfi, and expressed his gratitude to Turkey for standing by Lebanon in these circumstances.
