A statement issued by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council announced the killing of Ali Larijani:
“In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
‘Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with God; among them are those who have fulfilled their vow, and among them are those who await, and they have not altered in the least.’
O noble nation of Iran!
‘The servant of God has joined his Lord.’
The pure souls of the martyrs have embraced the soul of God’s righteous servant, the martyr Dr. Ali Larijani.
After a lifetime spent in the service of Iran’s progress and the Islamic Revolution, he has finally fulfilled his long-cherished wish, answered the call of truth, and proudly attained the honor of martyrdom in the midst of battle. He has joined the Imam of the martyrs of Ramadan, the Commander of the Faithful Ali (peace be upon him), and the leader of the caravan of martyrdom and jihad against America and Israel, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, as well as his martyred teacher, Ayatollah Motahhari, and his companions in martyrdom, Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah and Hajj Qassem Soleimani.
Until his final moments, he remained committed to spreading the word of God and striving for the elevation and development of beloved Iran. He consistently called on the people and officials to unite in the face of the bloodthirsty enemy. Finally, at the dawn of the blessed month of Ramadan, he attained the highest rank of martyrdom alongside his devoted son Morteza, Ali Reza Bayat, Deputy Security of the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council, and a group of loyal guards.
A certain victory awaits those who struggle in the path of truth, and these martyrdoms will only strengthen the determination of the nation and society to continue the path of God’s men.
His martyrdom crowns a struggle that, in recent years, has been no less significant than this great victory.
May God have mercy on him and grant him a place in His vast paradise, and may his path be followed by many.
Thus have we taken our revenge against the oppressors, and it is our right to support the believers.
Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council.”
