President of the Republic Joseph Aoun expressed his sorrow over the martyrdom of journalist Amal Khalil as a result of the Israeli shelling that targeted the town of Tayri yesterday, in which journalist Zeinab Faraj was also wounded.
President Aoun said that Israel’s deliberate and repeated direct targeting of journalists is intended to hide the truth about its aggressive violations against Lebanon, in addition to constituting crimes against humanity punishable under international laws and norms and warranting intervention by the international community to put an end to them.
President Aoun offered his condolences to the family of the martyred journalist, who joined the procession of journalist martyrs who preceded her on the path of sacrifice on the soil of the South as well. He also extended his condolences to the family of Al-Akhbar newspaper and to the Lebanese and Arab media community, asking that she be granted mercy and that they all be given patience and solace.
He also wished a speedy recovery to her colleague Zeinab Faraj, who was injured in the same attack.
