Makhzoumi from Baabda: We support direct negotiations with Israel, and no authority stands above that of the Lebanese state

MP Fouad Makhzoumi after meeting the President of the Republic:

We reaffirm our full support for the President of the Republic in the course he is leading to protect Lebanon and restore the state to its full role.

We support the option of direct negotiations with Israel in a manner that preserves Lebanon’s supreme interest, ensures stability in the south, and consolidates the sovereignty of the state.

What is required is a realistic approach, بعيداً عن الشعارات والمزايدات التي أوصلت لبنان إلى أزماته الحالية.

Full support for the government and its sovereign decisions that restore the confidence of the Lebanese people and the international community in the Lebanese state.

The capital cannot regain its natural role except through legitimate security and by entrenching the principle that no authority stands above that of the Lebanese state.

We call on Israel to fully abide by any understandings reached and to carry out a gradual withdrawal from Lebanese territory.

The adoption of a fair and comprehensive general amnesty law has become a national and humanitarian necessity, away from grandstanding and political wrangling.
