Iran’s Foreign Ministry announced that authorities evacuated Shahid Baghaei Hospital, which specializes in treating childhood cancer in the city of Ahvaz, following a U.S. attack that targeted a nearby site, according to the Iranian account.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said the evacuation took place overnight, with 211 children with cancer who were receiving chemotherapy urgently transferred to other medical centers to ensure their safety.
Baghaei described what happened as a "barbaric act" and a "war crime," saying the attack caused panic and suffering among the sick children and their families, and comparing the incident to what he said were previous attacks targeting medical facilities.
He added that parties that raise slogans about defending human rights, yet remain silent over the targeting of hospitals and health centers, "lose all moral credibility," in his words.
