Nidaa Al-Watan has learned that the atmosphere within Hezbollah appears negative. After Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri told President General Joseph Aoun, “Give me a ceasefire and leave the rest to me,” no response had reached Baabda through mediators by Monday night regarding Hezbollah’s commitment to the truce if Israel abides by it. This indicates that Hezbollah’s ties and orders to move come solely from Iran.
According to the information, the military negotiating track has been separated from the political-diplomatic one. The military delegation will be formed by the Army Command from officers based in Lebanon, and they will be joined in the Pentagon talks by the military attaché in Washington, Oliver Hakmeh. The delegation will be limited to army officers and will not include the other security agencies. It will take its instructions from the command and from the President of the Republic, in his capacity as the sole constitutional authority over negotiations and the supreme commander of the armed forces. As of now, no names have been selected, and it is certain that the delegation will not be headed by the army commander.
It is worth noting that the officers currently in Washington are only attending a training course and have no connection to the negotiations or to the military-security talks.
