Berri comments on Salam’s visit to Zawtar: Coordinated with me, and his presence carries symbolic significance... no signs of Syrian entry into Lebanon

Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri said in remarks to the WISE platform that he is not concerned about reports suggesting possible Syrian intervention in Lebanon, noting that there are no indications pointing in that direction.

Berri said: “I am not worried because there are no Syrian signals, nor any Lebanese signals, of any intention to intervene or create tensions.”

Regarding the outcomes of the Washington meetings and the border file, Berri explained that he is waiting to review the details of the meetings that were held, saying: “I am waiting to know what took place in the bilateral Washington meetings and the extent of the commitment to implementing the Israeli withdrawals from southern Lebanon.”

As for the possibility of holding a meeting with President Joseph Aoun after his return from Washington, Berri confirmed that communication between them is ongoing, saying: “Communication exists.”

On Prime Minister Nawaf Salam’s visit to the town of Western Zawtar, Berri described it as a symbolic step, explaining that it came in coordination with him. He said: “It is symbolic and coordinated with me. He called me, and I advised him to go early and to coordinate with the Lebanese Army because the Israeli army has not stopped firing.”
