U.S. President Donald Trump warned the countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) of a “very bad future” if they do not join the United States in securing the strategic Strait of Hormuz, amid rising tensions related to Iran and potential threats to navigation in this vital waterway.
Trump said:
“This fate awaits NATO countries if they do not participate with the United States in securing the Strait of Hormuz, amid rising tensions related to Iran and potential threats to navigation in this vital waterway.”
“Countries benefiting from this passage must contribute to its protection. My country has provided significant support to its allies, including during the Ukraine crisis, and we will now see whether our allies provide the same support on this issue.
