The Ministry of Public Works and Transport issued a clarifying statement regarding reports circulating on social media about alleged cracks in the columns of the Casino Bridge on the westbound lane toward Beirut.
The ministry confirmed the following in its statement:
"The information circulating about damage to the bridge columns is inaccurate. Field inspections carried out by the ministry’s specialized technical teams confirmed that the columns are fully intact and have not suffered any cracks or structural damage."
"The incident that occurred around 5:40 PM on Saturday involved a vehicle colliding with the metal guardrail, causing damage at the site of the collision, without affecting the structural safety of the bridge."
"The relevant teams have begun repairing the damaged guardrail, and temporary concrete barriers have been placed at the site until the necessary works are completed, to ensure traffic safety."
Accordingly, the ministry urged citizens to verify information and rely on official sources to avoid unnecessary alarm.
It also emphasized its continued monitoring and maintenance of the road and bridge network to ensure public safety.
