Following the conclusion of the negotiations meeting, the Israeli ambassador made a series of statements addressing security developments and the course of negotiations with Lebanon, speaking about the existing challenges and his country’s vision for the next phase.
The Israeli ambassador said: "We are suffering from the continued barrages of rockets and attacks crossing the border."
He added: "We discussed long-term issues and said clearly that the security of civilians is not a subject for negotiation, and this is something the government of Joseph Aoun understands."
He continued: "The government of Joseph Aoun said no to Hezbollah, and this is the beginning of a strong battle against Hezbollah, which is in one of its most difficult states, and together we will continue confronting Iran’s proxy."
He stressed: "We agree on liberating Lebanon from the Hezbollah group."
He also pointed out that: "The Lebanese government made clear that it will not remain under Hezbollah’s occupation, and Lebanon now has an opportunity after the weakening of Iran and Hezbollah."
He said: "We will continue negotiations with Lebanon in the next phase."
He concluded by saying: "Iran is the malign influence in the world and the region, and we will move forward with Lebanon toward a peace treaty after resolving the security problems."
