A Meeting That Upended the Equations… What Did Trump Bring for Aoun at the Decisive Moment?

US President Donald Trump and Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun held a US-Lebanese summit at the White House, carrying prominent political messages about the future of relations between the two countries and the files of stability in Lebanon and the region.

During the meeting, President Trump affirmed his appreciation for President Aoun, pointing to major opportunities for progress and cooperation with Lebanon, and stressing the importance of treating Lebanon with the respect it deserves after years of difficult circumstances.

President Trump said: "President Aoun is held in very high regard, and we will achieve a great deal of progress. I may even have a preference for Lebanon because I have many Lebanese friends."

He added: "Lebanon has been subjected to a great deal of mistreatment, and we will treat it with the respect it deserves. I do not rule out the return of flights between Lebanon and America."

On the security file, Trump revealed that "the Israelis are in the process of withdrawing from Lebanese areas," noting his readiness to play a role if President Aoun asked him to communicate with Hezbollah. He said: "If President Aoun asks me to speak to Hezbollah, I will do so."

For his part, President Aoun affirmed that his vision converges with that of the US president on the issues of peace and stability, saying: "President Trump's vision aligns with mine regarding peace and stability in Lebanon and the region, and we will be able to achieve that together."

The President of the Republic also indicated that Speaker Nabih Berri wants to end the conflict with Israel and put an end to the war, renewing his confidence in the military institution and its leadership, and stressing the need to support the Lebanese Army as the fundamental pillar of security and stability in Lebanon.
