Axios quoted a U.S. official as saying that the United States does not expect to reach an agreement with Iran today, noting that the negotiating track still needs time to complete procedures and approvals on the Iranian side.
The official explained that “the Iranian system in its current form does not move quickly,” pointing out that completing the necessary steps could take several more days before a final formula is reached.
According to the same source, Iran’s Supreme Leader has approved the broad general framework of the agreement, but the key issue remains whether the proposed memorandum of understanding can be turned into a final binding agreement.
He added that the negotiations are still focused on precise drafting details, with Washington holding to some core phrases, while the Iranian side insists on including specific wording in the final text, making full understanding contingent on resolving these outstanding points.
