Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi issued a decision pardoning 602 convicts who had met the conditions for release, in conjunction with the celebration of Sinai Liberation Day.
The decision comes within the context of the Egyptian state's approach to developing the concept of criminal justice, by adopting reform policies based on rehabilitation and granting a new opportunity to compliant inmates, enabling them to return to society and contribute to its progress.
In the wake of the decision, reform and rehabilitation centers witnessed emotional scenes, as joy swept through the families of those released, who gathered to welcome their loved ones, in a humanitarian scene reflecting the importance of such initiatives in strengthening social bonds, alongside a national anniversary that carries special symbolism for Egyptians.
